Expansion for city venue

Peterborough’s KingsGate Conference Centre has opened a new state-of-the-art meeting suite to further consolidate its position as one of the most versatile venues in the East Midlands.

“The 400-seater Carmichael Suite is a significant addition to our offering and gives clients even more flexibility and choice,” says conferencing manager Jonathan Wilson.

KingsGate also boasts a 1200 capacity Auditorium with a theatre-sized stage, equipped with a 14 metre projection screen and the latest digital sound and lighting technology.

The new first floor Carmichael Suite, which also has a low level stage, mirrors the venue’s Seymour Suite, a 300 capacity room which is already popular with corporate clients.

The venue has nine other conferencing suites and meeting rooms of varying sizes, as well as a large Atrium for exhibitions and refreshments, and a free 400 vehicle car park.

“We are very excited about the potential offered by the new Carmichael Suite,” added Jonathan. “It is a great room with good natural light and can be configured in a variety of formats.”

The new suite was formally opened by John Bridge OBE, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce, today (Friday) at a lunchtime networking event for existing and prospective clients.

Speaking at the event John said: “The conference facilities at KingsGate Centre compete with some of the country’s leading venues and that is why we have chosen to bring businesses from across the region here for the Peterborough B2B Exhibition in October.

“Excellent facilities such as those available at the KingsGate Centre really put Peterborough on the map, and that has wider benefits for the local and regional economy.”
